Project coordinators can highlight important information about posting Discussions for their particular project in the Discussion page intro text. For instance, some may want to remind posters to search existing threads before posting a new thread, review their FAQs, request that bugs or feature suggestions are opened in the Issue Tracker, and so forth.
Edit the intro page of the Discussion tab

  • From the project’s Discussions tab, click Edit Discussion List Details.

    image
  • Type in the intro text you would like to use and click Save.

Topic View

Topic View extends tagging capabilities to allow discussions to be grouped by subject. Scoped navigation and notifications by topic are enabled on both Classic and Topic views, but when Topic view is enabled, the main discussion page will display your topic list as navigation. This view is best for projects that have high discussion volume.
Before enabling this view, please note:

  • Your existing discussions that are not tagged will automatically be tagged with 'General', and this topic will appear in your main discussion page. You can migrate discussions out of this topic by editing the tags on each discussion. Switching back to Classic View will not undo the 'General' tagging across your discussions.
  • Users will be required to select at least one topic when starting a new discussion.
  • Topics will not appear on the main discussion page until at least one discussion is tagged with the topic.

Classic View

Classic view is the default view for discussions. Discussions are listed on the main discussion page, and use of topic tags is optional.
