We will be posting a link to Team Explorer which you will be able to download and use for free on the CodePlex site. It should be available in the next few weeks.

Team Explorer is available for download now: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/a/d/2ad44873-8ccb-4a1b-9c0d-23224b3ba34c/VSTFClient.img

It's a large download.

What exactly is Team Explorer? Is that just Visual Studio plugin in to connect to a TF Version Control repository and the other TF features?

It work like a plugin for VS if its installed, or as a standalone Team Foundation Client if there is no VS.

If you have Visual Studio Team System already, do you still need this client? I have the full suite installed locally.

TFS client does not get installed with VSTS. You must use the client install either from the MS download link posted above or the TFS install CD.

This link should be added in the CodePlex FAQ.

you can do your source control in VS2005 and compile/debug from VS C# express if you're doing XNA.

otherwise, use TF.exe for source control.
