Any restrictions on Type of Project?

Hi All,

I couldnt get a satisfactiory answer in FAQ so I am putting this question here.

Is there any restriction on the type of project that one can create in codeplex. For example I haven't seen any project that is not very technical or related to programming. For example what if I want to create a Unique Shopping Cart module or hospital management system. Does codeplex accept such type of projects?

thanks :)

My guess is that you can create anything that is not illegal.

Of course, if your project does not interest others, you will likely be disappointed by the lack of participation.

CodePlex FAQ:  http://codeplex.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?title=CodePlex%20FAQ

example from the above FAQ:

What are the requirements for hosting a project on CodePlex?

Your project must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must choose a license for your project (license resources: Open Source License page on Wikipedia)
  2. It must be an ongoing project (no "abandoned" projects)
  3. It must have source code (no non-software projects)

Both a shopping cart module or a hospital management system would be fine.  There isn't any restrictions on type of project as long as the project complies with our hosting requirements (listed above by Gerry) and our terms of use.
