What is "manage components"

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the "manage components" feature for and how/why is it used. I noticed it when I created a new work item.

It allows you to setup components in your project, so that you can then associate a task/bug/feature with that component. For example, you can create a component called "Installer", and any bugs that are found in your installer you would put under the Installer component. It's just a way to organize work items. Maybe someone on your team is responsible for the Installer component, etc.

Where do I access this "manage components" feature?

On the create new issue screen, there is a link next to the components drop down which takes you to the screen to add and remove components.

Found it later on, yes.
It's quite hard to discover the feature, though.
I had three releases already, and when someone tried to create a new issue, that's when we realized we had no components defined, and no central place to manage them either.
So I had to fake I was going to create an issue to myself (?) just to get to the link you mention. Not too friendly :(
