Is code hosted on CodePlex vetted and malware free?

I just signed up, having found what appears to be a solution (SharePoint 2013 New item custom callout, to a flaw within an area of SharePoint's user interface.

I'm really eager to see if the code does the trick, however, before I insert the JavaScript into the SharePoint web part I'm curious as to what, if any, measures are taken to ensure the code doesn't include any malware? Is there anything I should look at to help assess the risk? How is the status "Stable" verified? It looks as though there is no system for assigning "reputations". Also, I am not a programmer and therefore in general cannot evaluate the code myself.

Thanks so much!

Most code is open source on this website and has reviews if it is reputable or been around for awhile. Their is a review process where you can give the code or product on codeplex stars and explain your reason for the stars or why you did or did not like it. However, it helps you avoid bad projects too!
